Colleagues,

With the presidential election looming and healthcare a topic talked about daily, it behooves us to keep abreast of what's happening both state-and nationwide. Please bring friends from you chapter to our next Operating Room Nursing Council of California meeting to share concerns and discuss issues. Ask our chapter president if you chapter is a member of the Council. If not, ask him or her why not? Remember that you can be an associate member of ORNCC as well.

Our next ORNCC meeting will be held from 10 am-3 pm on Saturday October 4, 2008, in Irvine/Orange County. We often have members from the AORN National Board attending, and we will hear a National AORN Board Report. There will be a discussion of the Leadership Conference in Denver held the end of July, and we will continue planning for the 2009 Congress in Chicago. There are national and statewide legislative and regulatory issues to discuss. There is always a lively discussion of professional issues facing nursing in general and our specialty in particular. As always, there will be updates about chapter fundraisers and educational offerings. The energy at these meetings is electric. Come and see for yourself. I'll see you there!
