4, 2008 is the date of the next ORNCC meeting and it will be
held at the Embassy Suites in Irvine-Orange
County. Get your invitation letter from Chair Shelley Carroll,
and review the Agenda and then Register early
at a reduced rate.
- Call To Volunteers For Managing Today's OR Suite Conference: October
29-31, 2008 Managing Today's OR Suite (MTORS) Conference will be
held at the new fabulous Gaylord National Hotel and Resort in Washington,
D.C. Monica Weisbrich, volunteer coordinator for MTORS is asking
for your service commitment. Volunteers will monitor and/or moderate
the educational sessions. These slots fill quickly so email
Monica today or call her at 310-645-8216 and reserve your spot.
Deadline for signing up is August 1, 2008 and request are honored
on a first-come first serve basis.
- AMA House of Delegates Ask To Supervise DNP's:
The American Medical Association will be discussing Resolution
214-"Doctor of Nursing
Practice" would require physician supervision for DNPs. Resolution
303 states "Protection of the Titles 'Doctor', 'Resident', and
'Residency' would limit the use of these terms to physicians, dentists,
and podiatrists. In Resolution 716-"AMA Model Agreement with
Advanced Practice Nurse Clinicians, Nurse Practitioners and/or Clinical
Nurse Specialists," recommends that such agreements address "quality
of care, continuity of care, and scope of practice" of
Advanced Practice Registered Nurses. The ANA has responded
to the Resolution
and will be attending the HOD meeting. We have provided these

2008
California Congress Pin: The AORN Congress
will return to Anaheim in 2008 and the Council has been asked to
prepare a pin that will highlight our state.
The pin has been created and is available for advanced purchase.
The cost is $15.00 and the size of the pin in 2.5 inches. The green
symbolizes land and the blue the ocean. To order your pins
today contact Shelley Carroll. Supply
is limited so don't wait until next year, order today.
